How much would you pay for an iPhone 2G?
« on: October 02, 2013, 01:19:14 PM »
Hello everyone.

I'd like to buy an iPhone 2G just for collecting, I don't think I'll use it everyday as my primary phone (I already have a 3GS). But I don't know what's the maximum price I should pay for this mobile phone. Most of items I've seen on eBay are damaged at the back cover(lots of scratches) o simply shuted down once and never worked again(I suppose it's the battery, I have no problem dissasembling it and soldering a new battery).

So... What do you think I should pay for an original iPhone?

Thanks!

It is all relative. First, the 4gb model is not under 500$ due to it'rarety.
The 8GB is less expensive but still pretty rare.
We cannot tell really the maximum price because it depends of your budget.

I personnally wouln'd go over 50-60$(depending of the state)

Price depends a lot on the condition of the iPhone and the country you are shopping in and old iPhones are usually cheaper in USA. You did not say the name of the country you live in so consider custom taxes and many eBay US sellers will not ship outside their country.

"...just for collecting" - If you are looking for an iPhone 2G in mint condition with the original box and all the original accessories then it will probably cost as much as a new iPhone 5S... or more. :o

There are so many variables that it is impossible to reply to your question: "what's the maximum price I should pay" because everything is relative.

I live in Spain. I've seen some 4GB models, and they aren't very expensive(well it was water damaged lol, but I think I can fix it)

I know I said for collecting, but I don't expect buying one in mint conditions with box, charger, etc... (I've seen some around 1000 O_O) For example, I was following a bid that started at 75 and the seller didn't get any bid, so he will have to make another bid. Now I'm following one iPhone 2G which is sold as broken(but it isn't! The owner doesn't know how to fix it) and finishes in 3 hours, and it costs 15,60 right now (plus 10 of shipping costs). I don't want to buy from USA, shipping costs are REALLY expensive, so I prefer buying from Europe.

Thank you, now I know what prices I'm looking for.
