I don't think you can mod it to get a 100% copy of the original one.
You have to hook a lot if things, which will slowdown your device.

Coding it from scratch would be the efficient way a both :b

It is possible, but as blackr41n said, it would be more logical to just make a new one from scratch (although using some, or a lot, of private methods to get it running in the background and responding to system wide media controls).

That being said, we aren't disclosing any information on what is being worked on ;)

Tangentially related, but there's a strange app floating around on ATM called "Whited00r Music". It seems to be a standalone music player, just like the regular music application, but without the iOS 7 theme. What's up with that?

I noticed that too. but as BC said above to get it to respond to system wide track changing buttons and many other things it might be very hard to do...

i made it for my iphone 3gs iOS 7 custom firmware!
 i will send ipsw download link when sn0wbreeze support ios 6.1.6 !
it is so perfect looks like whited00r 7
i made a assistant siri offline (voice control hacked) ,almost perfect ios 7 theme include newsstand theme too,folders theme ,multitask and other things!!

That is iOS 6, and a completely different device.  Much easier to customize than 3.1.3 ;)  (and of no help at all in this thread, but I'm guessing you knew that -__- )
