Add music to iPhone 3G iOS 4.1 without PC
« on: June 10, 2014, 07:56:22 PM »
Long story short , my iPhone (3g) is almost dead , it cant connect to anything , I have no indication that its charging , it charges to 82% and then after 1 min of disconnecting from the cable jumps 100% , half of the time volume buttons dont work .

But thats besides the point of what I need , basically a way to get music on my phone ( music app preferably ) without using a USB cable . If anyone has any ideas I would be very appreciative .

iPhone 3G
iOS 4.1

You could try out MewSeek from Cydia, it is free and says it supports iOS 4 with the ability to import downloaded music into the music library.  While I don't endorse piracy, it will help you get your music on the device, even if one by one.

Mewseek *may* have a download folder you can SCP your music into from your computer though, using WinSCP or something like that.
This tutorial gives a basic premise about how to connect to the iPhone to see the file system wirelessly (iTunes does not support syncing via this).  How to FTP With Your iPod Touch

While the tutorial may be old, it should still give the basic idea of what you need.  If you open Mewseek, check to see if it says where it downloads the files to, and then see if you can copy over a couple MP3 files from your computer into that folder, and then import them to the music app library via MewSeek.

So I installed MewSeek it crashes on start up and FTP thing failed , could it be a problem that im using a 3G hotspot for wifi on my phone and my PC is with a ethernet cable from a different source .

Maybe the one for iOS 2 will work? (Long shot...)

The FTP thing would fail if your iPhone is on a different network than the PC.  In most cases, the tutorial is for devices running through a router, where the PC is plugged into as well (more a hub in that case than a router, but hey, that's commercial naming for you :P ), so they are on the same network.

You cannot FTP/SSH/SCP into the device on a different network than the one you are on.

MMM... there are a lot of apps which can download music directly from the internet but the music won't be stored in your native music library. Secondly most of them aren't compatible with older devices. Mew seek can do that but you are experiencing problems with it. Try Spotify. Get a free account, install the program on your computer and mark the music you already have and you want on your device too. You could permit offline access of those playlists on your phone, still they won't be added to your native music library. Make sure you have App Sync. Here's a cracked .ipa compatible with iOS 3.0 or above: http://www.mediafire.com/download/eh1699bg228qiri/Spotify+%28v0.4.13+LP+os30%29-most_uniQue.ipa
It's pretty much like wifi syncing. Install the .ipa via USB cable. If you don't want to use the cable, install App Cake, download the .ipa using safari, and then open it in App Cake. Proceed to install the app. You can also get the .ipa directly from App Cake, it is an alternative to Installous. Here's the repo: http://cydia.iphonecake.com

Enjoy :)

What tool did you use to transfer the media to your device?

Also, when you restored to whited00r, did you set up as a new device in iTunes, or restore from a backup to get your data back?
