thats one of the reasons i hate ios and i liberate 6 gb with avg vlean iphone

It backs up stuff from other devices, and just general apps and preferences over time, including the last 30 days of pictures and videos, regardless of if you restore or not. You should be able to manage that storage though, from the iCloud tab in the main settings page.
