Update all packages (not the OS) and that will disappear

But why not use one of the original and more mature distros, like Slackware, or SuSE, or Fedora by RedHat even?  If it's compactness and speed that's the main priority, these can usually be tailorfitted rather easily to your system, or even consider TinyLinux. That's my opinion anyway...

Lol because Ubuntu is quick, easy to use, powerful and /very/ popular. There's just so much support and community. It's like everything works.

It's a separate operating system, but yes you can dual-boot with GRUB2

Dual boot has nothing to do with virtualization.

Nope, virtualization is for running a virtual machine on your already installed OS.

Dual boot invovles no virtualization as it's simply having two operating systems installed on the same system.

Virtualization:    HDD > Windows > VMWare/Virtual Box/Virtual PC > Another OS.
Dual Boot:      HDD > Windows + Another OS.

Hi5 Tapatalk! And I think you mean you're using 8 GB of virtual memory or swap...

My machine that has Ubuntu is just 1.5 GB DDR2 RAM ... I think 1 GB is available for VM but it's not really used

Dual-booting involves creating a new hard drive partition. Virtual booting is just running a OS inside of your current OS (like Inception lol)

(Yay! Tapatalking with my iTOUCH4G by using Nokia2660 shared network! ;D)
And yes, VirtualMemory by using Swap partition on ubuntu make it veru very fast!
