3g install advice?

i currently have a 3g running on iOS 4.1 unlocked / jailbroken
I wanted to give whited00r a try but not sure how to proceed to ensure i dont mess things up.  I'm pretty familiar w/ the upgrade/jailbreak process using redsn0w since i've done it enough times now.  my question is , are there any special steps i need to do w/ whited00r since i'm technically downgrading from 4.1 to 3.1.3?

wasnt sure if i should first do a 3.1.2 downgrade and THEN do the whited00r or if i'd be safe just doing the alt+restore whited00r method.

also, will i need to do anything special to maintain/re-do my jailbreak/unlock procedure?

i did try and read as many tutorials as i could but they did not seem to cover specifics like this like other sites sometimes do. in my experience, alt+restore for a custom firmware rarely works right

I'm new also
just did 2 phones (3G) this week with almost no problems

i downgraded from 4.2.1 to WD 3.1.3 easily

I just downloaded the correct version (mine was locked and not jailbroken)
then unzipped
and downloaded iReb (i think thats what it's called)
plugged in and ran iReb to put it into black mode (DFU)
Then ran iTunes Shift+Restore and selected the WD file
Thats it
Just make sure you set it up as a New Phone

Afterwords run the ./Configurator and answer the questions (y/n) to turn on/off items you do/don't use
items like multi tasking, obliterator, MMS, tethering, etc.

the dilema i have is i need mine to stay jailbroken and unlocked (tmobile). 

how can i run the configurator tool? usually I would check/uncheck those options in redsn0w

first of all:
You need to have ther shsh blobs fpr 3.1.3 since apple stop signing the firmware. To downgrade you then need tinyumbrella.
The other steps(ireb etc ) are correct.

Configurator is a script that actually makes your installed firmware to wihtedoor. so theres no unchecking option for this(it wouldnt make sense either^^)
the script itself is ran in terminal which is installed by default. You log in with
su
alpine
and then type in ./Configurator.sh(i kinda think thats how it goes^^)
