my Cydia is clearly corrupted. I tried the repo from the  ninja sniper as well and still the  same error.  Where could I just download the app directly and the instructions on where to put the files after SSHing into the iPhone 3G

you could try to this to fix it.
got to var/lib/apt/lists
and delete the files from it. then go in there: var/lib/apt/lists/partial
and delete everything.

open up cydia and refresh

Hello,

I need some help please,  :-[

I was running an older version of whited00r, I think it was the ios 3 unlocker version.

I came across realbackup the other day on this forum and thought it was a good time to upgrade to the current whited00r 5.1 unlocker version.

I added realblack7's repo in cydia and installed realbackup beta 0.7b8.

I made a full backup of the phone, went into all the options and selected all the switches in all the menus so as to cover everything.

Realbackup made the folder in /var/mobile/Sez-Phone-120317-21:18 and the /Appstore App Data subfolder.
It all came to about 27MB in total.

I copied the files out to my desktop using iphonebrowser and then updated the phone to WD5.1

Once up and running I re-installed the realblack7 repo in cydia and re-installed realbackup and then copied the files back to the phone retaining the file structure as before.

I launched the app which seemed to see the backup and listed it in the restore section, i configured the restore, said yes to the "are you sure" prompt, and after a while the app closed back to the home screen, which i assume meant it was complete as it did this on the backup the first time round.

The problem is that it hasn't actually restored anything!

The SMS db for example was empty as was the call records, also none of the apps have their data back, and there a few i needed the data from.

The tar files all seem to have the required data in as i manually put the sms.db (var/Mobile/Library/SMS) back on the phone to test and it worked.

I have all the tar.gz files from the backup, but just cant seem to restore them, any help is greatly appreciated as this is my GF's phone and she needed some of the data that was in the apps.

Many thanks in advance,

Kai.

okay. that really shouldnt happen.
first thing: the Folder the backups are in should be var/mobile/Backup

second: realbackup creates errorlogs. they are in /Library/RealBackup/Logs
if you could send me the files(maybe zip the folder), I could tell you what went wrong

I did a wipe and reinstall this morning and it seems to have worked this time for everything except the app data.

Do the files in the app data sub folder need to stay in there or do I need to put the app data tars in the backup folder root as well?

Thank you.

Kai

the backup looks like this:
in var/mobile/Backup is a folder with your backup files. in this folder(its name is the backup name) are some tarballs(personaldata.tar.gz, cydia.tar.gz, etc) and a Folder containing the tarballs of your appstore app saves.

did you configured the appstore app sata restore or did you just enabled it?

@superglut yeah i forgot to update the post, will do it soon

Hello,

I can confirm I have the correct file structure, and I am fairly confident I enabled all the toggles i could (including appstore data)

I hope this helps?

Thank you,

Kai.

Hello,

ok, it looks like i may have overlooked the app store toggles in the backup.

I just did a wipe and re-install of WD5.1, synced the apps from itunes, then ran the backup again.
I compared the files sizes from the previous backup and the current one and they appear to be the same.
My guess is i didnt backup the data!

if im wrong and the logs show anything up please let me know as I will keep hold of the first backup just incase.

Many thanks for all your help.

Kai.
