A few little visual tweaks I made...
« on: August 18, 2011, 04:14:21 PM »
Hey guys, its been a while since I posted but I have a few little visual tweaks to make whited00r just a little more like iOS4.

1) I modified the Other.artwork file to mask App Store icons exactly like iOS4 does.  Just place it in "/System/Library/Frameworks/UIKit.framework"  However, it will only properly mask app icons installed AFTER the new file is put in place.  The old icons will remain unchanged until you reinstall them.  I installed Remote before the new file and Newegg afterwards in the picture.

2) I tweaked the wallpaper selection page in Preferences to act more like in iOS4 (its is exactly the same size, the box turns blue when you tap on it, but the images don't change)  Drop the two files, Wallpaper.plist and WallpaperBlock.png into "/Applications/Preferences.app"

I hope this is useful to somebody!

I thought the wallpaper settings is already in whited00r?   I know some of my stuff changes the setting app, so it isn't, but aside from that.

Or did you change the size?

Either way, great job! :D

This is just a replacement of the one already in Whited00r, it is really not necessary or overly noticeable, it just makes it a little more accurate to the iOS4 one.

This one has a small glitch that appears if you go to change the wallpaper and then tap back, a little "W." appears underneath the right pointing arrow.  It goes away as soon as you add pics from your computer or take a picture, its kind of weird, maybe somebody who knows more about this stuff could get it to go away?

The whited00r one uses two "PSGiantIconCell" things with two separate pictures, this one uses one png with a transparent area around the two "frames" so it sits in the right place.  I used a normal "PSLinkCell" with the height set to 204px.

Yeah...I saw this key when I was looking in the iOS4 Wallpaper.plist file a while back, I tried it not thinking that it would work but it did!  I know for a fact that it works with PSLinkCell but idk about other types...

Example:

<dict>
    <key>cell</key>
    <string>PSLinkCell</string>
    <key>height</key>
    <string>[number in pixels]</string>
</dict>

I also made another icon for terminal that looks a little different and slightly more iOS4-like, what do you guys think?  Also if anybody wants it here is the new Cydia icon.

Has anybody tried the artwork file?

I added the iOS5 png files but they aren't showing up in the Preferences app.  Also, the new mask only appears on apps added after it is updated.  I'm don't know but it seems that iOS stores copies of these png images elsewhere and only updates them when it has to (ie: installing a new app).  Does anybody know how to make it update the images in preferences?  I can't test this until I can make them show up.  Here it is anyways though...

Just so we know: It Doesn't Work

This is meant for Whited00r firmwares that have an iOS4-like wallpaper selection menu added.  The "Wallpaper" link in the main preferences page needs to link to a plist called "Wallpaper.plist" (which is what I provided) which in turns links to the wallpaper preferences bundle.
