Free Memory
« on: August 18, 2011, 11:37:51 PM »
I saw a package on the repo called freememory 2.0 (although now it seems like it was changed to free memory) and it apparently runs the free memory script every 60 seconds.
I have a few questions about it:
1. Is this a mobile substrate?
2. Will running free ram every 60 seconds cause battery drain and shorten my device's life?
This looks pretty cool though.

its not a substrate, and it doesnt kill the lifespan of your device...it doesnt drain battery, just that your battery will go down a little quicker

Wait so It won't drain battery, but the battery will go down faster? It contradicts it self!  :P

say ur battery goes down 1% evry 2 mins, it might now go down 1.2% per 2 mins

So it drains :)) Anyways, VIRTUAL MEMORY is not worth it, it slows down your device more than anything.

Virtual Memory is very bad. I think I have the deb for freeing memory somewhere. I'll upload it as soon as I find it.
I tried it and it wastes a lot of battery, I don't suggest it.
Someone should make a script/mobile substrate tweak to auto delete the virtual memory swap file.

Or maybe you are like me and have it that does it automatically ;) I have a perfect vm plist ;) I'm not promoting it though, or sharing.   You don't want to delete wrong vm, as a warning....
