Hello and welcome to Whited00r!
The best firmware for older devices!

You are probably reading this because you either are new or are having troubles figuring something out!

Theres no problem, I will explain most of the things used here!

##1

Here just plug in your iPhone, start iTunes and then click on Restore holding ALT (on Mac OS) or SHIFT (in Windows) at the same time and select the whited00r Software Update (.ipsw) from you computer.

##2

Just let it restore now! and when its done sync up your apps!

##3

ENJOY USING whited00r!!

##4 - 1600 / 1604 Error

This just means your computer needs to be rebooted. First try that and then if it doesnt work, restore with the legit 3.1.3 with the shift click method above and then jailbreak with redsn0w then after all of that hassle you can THEN restore with whited00r.

I know it is a pain but its worth it trust me.

##5 Once its installed reboot TWICE
I know it sounds dumb but its to make sure everything is installed fine and nothing is wrong with the os etc... its good measure because the IOS firmware checks for errors on boot so if there are any they will be fixed.

Here is what the iPhone does before it boots- all you see is the fancy logo but this is what its actually doing.

##6 What can i do and what cant i do??

Game center- Never will be on this firmware because it is missing the 4.0 api's that are needed. and NO we cant just place them in the folders of where they should be because 4.0 is a totally different beast then 3.XX

Facetime- never will either because it also requires 4.0 or the iphone 4. You can use it on the 3gs as there is a hack for it.

Folders- Now available with some hassle.
Look in Suggestions for next release, its the most popular thread <!-- s:) -->:)<!-- s:) -->

I'm not a newbie lol but I have a question.
Do our device have to be already jailbroken to just shift+restore the WD Firmware? Or I can just shift+restore it without the redsn0w thing?

Hi

I am trying to install Whited00r 4.0 beta on my iPod Touch 1G. When I unzip the file it turns into an ipsw fie for a half second. Then it just turns into a folder. I have tried to rename the folder to .ipsw but it doesn't help. Since the file is not an ipsw file I am not able to select it in iTunes. When I click it I just go further into the folder.

Has anybody else had this problem? I tried to download the 1.8.1 stable zip file and had the same problem with that.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Edit. BTW I am on OSX.

use another browser to download it! I use google crome for ipsw, but it gives you a folder after you extract it and its inside it.  :)

Thx RKO1200. That seemed to do the trick. I usually use Chrome. Didn't work with that. But worked like a charm in Safari.

EDIT: I guess I wasn't that lucky yet. I have spend the last 3 hours trying to install the firmware. I keep getting an error message in iTunes. I have followed the guide and restored numerous times. I have tried reinstalling original 3.1.3 and then putting Whited00r on it. I have also tried jailbreaking it with both blackra1n and jailbreakme.com. I always crashes in iTunes. Any tips?

That shouldn't be needed... even though it's "shown" as a folder, the file, when you try to access/open it should work fine if it as the correct file-extention.
At least... I think so, based on my experience with OSX.
