Spotify on Ipod Touch 1st gen
« on: December 28, 2011, 08:27:33 PM »
Tried to search but couldn't find any useful info.
Is there any posibility, no mather how time consuming,
to run Spotify on iPod Touch 1st gen?

The latest version requires iOS 4. Can you trick appstore that you have iOS 4?

/System/Library/Core Services/SystemVersion.plist/

Change the number to 8J2 and the version to 4.3.3

Reboot, and once you download it, revert back to what it was before to avoid problems

Thanks! But how do I edit it? Tried to install iFiles or something, but was told I must have 4.0.
Can't use either vi or nano in terminal. How would you prefer to do it?
Sorry for all the stupid questions, got it today, and it's my first iPod.

On the first generation iPod touch you can follow his instructions to edit the file and trick the App Store into thinking your iPod has iOS 4 and force the installation.

To edit the file, you can either use iFile or iPhoneBrowser (on Windows)/iExplorer (on Mac OSX)

You will need to jailbreak obviously. I'm assuming however you already have the whited00r custom firmware installed so your iPod should be jailbroken. If not, use redsn0w 0.9.4 (pointing it to the iPod touch 1st generation 3.1.2 (not 3.1.3) firmware file)

If you're doing it on a computer, you might also need to install a plist editor. Google will help you find one.

Aha, so I can access files on the phone from my PC, correct?
Thought I had to edit it on the phone. I have the stable version of whited00r installed.
Should I use stable or the latest? I don't want to change in a week or so.
Better to make it right from the beginning.

Edit: So Spotify just closes down as I open it. I have tried to locate the older version. But I can't find it in the Media section?

I managed to get this working with whited00r 5.1. Just go to 3Store and use AppTrakr. Search for Spotify and you can get the latest version. Seems to work brilliantly.

Gotta say, I'm a big fan of whited00r. Breathed new life into my ooooooooold iPod. TA GUYS!

Does anyone have the .ipa packages? They've been ripped off of both mediafire links on apptrackr. I've gotten a spotify premium account and I'm frustrated how everyone's dropping 3.1.3 support. What from 4.0 does a music playing software NEED?

Did anyone find a copy of an older ipa that works with whited00r - all the links I can find are gone. It's killing me - the only app I actually want.
