Darlo's iOS 3 Folders Icons Customization Guide
« on: December 26, 2010, 09:06:41 PM »
~DARLO'S FOLDER CUSTOMIZATION~
NOTE: READ THE WHOLE TOPIC BEFORE CUSTOMIZING
1) Editing the background/folder
A) Step by step tutorial
1) Locate "/System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/Folders/" through WinSCP, Diskaid, Iphonebrowser

2) Copy the files into Folders into a Folder created somewhere on you computer (So you can't do anything wrong when customizing)

3) Copy the "FolderIconBG.png", "FolderSwitchedBG.png" and "FolderTitleEditField.png" into a new category, those 3 items are the only ones that you can edit.

You get this:

4) Customize these 3 items in Photoshop, Gimp (FREE) or any other picture edit software.
If you can't customize these files on your own, you can always download these (see Downloads section at the bottom)
REMEMBER:
FolderSwitchBG.png (Folder Background) Must be 320 x 480
FolderIconBG.png (Folder Icon) Must be 59 x 62
FolderTitleEditField.png (Rename Bar Background) Must be 302 x 29

EXAMPLE of my files:

5) Drag the 3 customized files into the "/System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/Folders/" category and say YES to the overwrite warning

6) On your iPod/iPhone, re-spring your springboard by swiping the home app off the backgrounding tab or reboot.

7) Click on each folder to open and close it again to get the new BG and Folder Image enabled. Do this until you did them all.

NOTES
-Respring after overwriting the files
-BACK-UP the original files!!!

2) Manual Tweaks (Lifting up your dock labels and enabling background icon shadows)
A) Step by step tutorial
1) Copy this file "/private/var/mobile/Library/Preferences/com.darlo770.folders.plist" to your computer

2) Open the file in WordPad (or any text viewer) and edit this boolean.

My settings:

3) Drag the file into the directory where it comes from (see 1) and say yes when it asks you to overwrite

EXAMPLE
Before: After:

NOTES
-Back-up the original file
-Only edit the 2 booleans mentioned in the guide

I thought that they were in the right place before installing Folders and in the wrong place after installing Folders...
And you can try the .plist without having folders installed, maybe it might work.

Hi, I'm sorry I should have clarified better.

I'm not using whtied00r; I'm just on the custom 3.1.3 FW.

I SSH'd and put in iOS4 dock to the default files, but the dock icon labels are low on the dock relating to their icons.

And the .plist doesn't work by just putting SSH'ing it in without Darlos folders.

Hey Darlo,

I was wondering if there was a way to disable the Springboard fading effect of the other icons. I wanted to see if disabling this would open up my folders faster for me.

Cheers,
Jim
