How To Create A .DEB by using .APP
Thanks to RagingNinja
Below is a step by step easy tutorial on How to Create a .deb File in Windows for .app

Things You Need
if you have the mobile terminal you dont need to download it

Creating a Deb by using .APP
the images below is showed by using the Reminders.app

Step 1
Create a New folder on your Desktop and name it the same as the .app you are using

Step 2
Create a New folder called Applications ( this is where the .app will go)

Step 3
Paste the .app folder in Applications folder you just created above

Step 4
Now Go Back to the Reminders Folder You Created in Step 1 and Create a New folder called DEBIAN

Step 5
Open Folder Options and UNCHECK Hide extensions for known file types

Step 6
Open the DEBIAN folder and right click and create a New Text Document.
Name the text document as control remove the .txt

Step 7
Open the control file with Notepad or Wordpad, Copy the text below and fill it
Code: [Select]
Package: com.YourName.YourPackage
Name: YourPackageName
Version: 1.0
Architecture: iphoneos-arm
Description: Description of your package
Homepage: http://YourWebsite.com
Maintainer: YourUsername
Author: YourName < YourEmail >
Section: Section
Conflicts: com.conflicing.package
Depends: com.depending.package, firmware(>=1.0)
below is an example

Step 8
Now Copy the folder you created in Step 1 to /private/var/root in your iphone
Open Terminal and type
Code: [Select]
dpkg -b "FOLDER NAME"

if you face a error change the permission of control file to 755

Application .DEB Created
Congratulations the .deb file has been created. You will find the .deb in /private/var/root

actually, if you want it to open, seeing as windows does not preserve file permissions, you need to run this on your device after you copy it over (although it might work for some people, but best to avoid errors)

Code: [Select]
chmod -R 775 "Reminders"
chmod -R 755 "Reminders/Applications/Reminders1.0.1.app"

then the dpkg code :)

Brilliant post though :)

or make a postinst script that does that on install^^

OH MY GOSH! I FORGOT THAT! You have to have 755 permissions on your control file, and 555 on your postinst file!

I didn't need it in the video, because I just kept on replacing the control file. So the permissions never changed. =(
