Okay, for those adventurous enough, this is how to update OTA on this release.  Open up ch40s-utilities, go to "OTA" -> "FirmwareFaker" and change "http://http://bcooperizcool.bplaced.net/Programs/FirmwareFaker" to just have one "http://" ;)  That was a spelling mistake on my part.  Tap return (needed!), then tap "Check for updates" and wait a bit :)  then hit ok to the changelog (maybe post screen shots? :D) and then hit update :)  it *should* work perfectly :)

Thanks! :D

OH! Sorry, you need to capitalize the "p" in "programs"  Sorry!  I was scratching my head at this too :P  But it seems happy now :)

Edit:  also, while updating, it will say your fimrware has been changed to whatever your original firmware was. (safety feature of FirmwareFaker ;) ).

Thanks for trying it out :)  I was really tired when I made this ;) (firmware faker).

Pictures of my update on my iPod 4g ;)  (yeah, I don't need it, but at least it works right? :P)

it doesn't actually change anything firmware wise....  It just makes apple think you are it...   I didn't think anyone would be using that firmware actually...  You need to reboot maybe?  I'm not sure :(
you could manually edit the firmware back to normal.  I will send an update out to fix this.

in /System/Library/CoreServices/SystemVersion.plist
change
"SystemVersion" (not actually that, the string below it, between <string> and </string>)
to 4.1
and
"SystemBuildVersion" (not actually that, the string below it, between <string> and </string>)
to 8B117
.

Make sure you didn't change anything else!

This caused you a safe mode loop? It shouldn't O.o unless it conflicted with a tweak you had that ran differently depending on the firmware...

I know it's strange, but I set up 4.2.1 to install… Logo Game or something (required 3.2 iOS), it didn't worked ;) And then I was using my i normally again and respringed (I don't know why it was kinda 3 weeks ago) and I was stuck in loop. I rebooted (onBoot failed I think) and respringed like 20 times, but nothing worked, until I changed firmware ;)

iDevice: 5.2 WhiteD00r from Dropbox (Developer Preview 3 or 1) and iPhone 2G.
