SBsettings wont install with this firmware,  it reboots after installing and theres nothing there :(

it's because there is a problem during the installation of mobile substrate, i put a link with a different version of mobile substrate, install the .deb (http://apt.saurik.com/debs/mobilesubstrate_0.9.3367-1_iphoneos-arm.deb) and re install SbSetting.

i've did this and now all my icons are just white o_O.
Also iphone hard resets when i try to install sbsettings now. :
Iphone now crashes while booting and then reboots over and over, im just gonna go to 4.2.1 stock. :(

Hello all,

Did anyone have this error pop up after installing this new .ipsw?

I tried to repair it by reinstalling iTunes (I erased it thoroughly with Terminal) and repairing disk permissions but then I got this error:

I tried everything I could think of:
- Installing whited00r, regular 3.13, regular 4.2.1 even restoring trough iTunes.
- Installing in DFU and Recovery mode.
- Using old iTunes (9.x.x)
- Rebooting iPhone and OSX many times.
- Authorizing/Deauthorizing iTunes.

Result is always the same: Firmware installs OK but the device can not connect with iTunes for final set up.

I'd really appreciate any kind of advice.

Cheers.

Have you tried pwned dfu with ireb?

Yes. Although I used redsn0w and PwnageTool.

I made some progress just now.
I followed the redsn0w jailbrake process and now the phone is operational (iOS 4.2.1),  but I still can not connect it with iTunes.

So the phone is working now but iTunes doesn't recognise? Or is it that the phone is saying to connect to iTunes?

iPhone is working after redsn0w jail brake and iTunes still won't recognize it.
Same problem 'You do not have permission'.

Use tiny umbrella to kick in to recovery mode.

Soltmeal,

Have you plans up your sleeve for future update which require this 4.1 cfw? Is there any issue other than downloading the additional dependencies for a custom or stock 4.2.1 base?

Is testing of Redd00r on this base, or are there testers using this base, stock and other CFW which are all having the same issues when installing Redd00r deb?

Just after some info...

No, you can use stock 4.2.1 or this to test redd00r, both will work. This one is just prejailbroken

Well, they're both SUPPOSED to work. The problem is they don't...

@applepie

Hi, I'm facing a problem.
I used mobile substrate from the first page, and ultra-snow 1.2.7 and my iphone 3G is stuck on searching.
I can't unlock it. Do you have any ideas on how ultrasnow will work? Thanks

*EDIT* I fixed it. I Had to update my baseband back to 6.15.00

Use tiny umbrella to kick in to recovery mode.

I did. Recovery mode won't work.

Anyhow, it's definitely a problem with iTunes on this particular machine.

I plugged the iPhone into another computer (Win) and it activated the firmware (from this topic) without a problem.

I deleted everything with 'iTunes' in the name and installed a fresh version but it still won't work.

Cheers.

There are other factors... I remember once when I restored from a huge problem, my iPhone was slow after the restore. After another restore it got much faster. The device keeps the old stuff (I think) just like how Windows keeps the old stuff when you restore (i.e. windows_old)
