Can anyone explain (with details  :) ) how to solve the Mobile substrate problem? I can´t install anythingh at all!

I take it it's this IOS4.1 Redd00r base you have installed.

You will need to add applepie's repo http://applepie.bplaced.net/repo to Cydia, then try again to install whatever it is your installing and it should automatically install the Mobile Substrate added to his repo for this specific firmware.

I added this base again to my iphone today and the mobile substrate is working.

Thank you!

I have Mobile Substrate but it keeps going to safe mode...  :-\

Wasn't there an md5 sum you could have verified before flashing this cfw? I have a hard time believing it bricked an iPhone for only one person unless something got corrupted (like iboot?). Just try restoring to official. Or use ireb to kick the device out of recovery.
Like I said, I've tried countless attempts at fixing this. I don't really know what happened, but the install stopped part way with error 14 from iTunes.  Then it went into a recovery boot-loop. When I try to fix the recovery boot loop, nothing happens. When I try to kick it out of recovery, it just goes back. Right now, my computer won't even recognize my iPhone, as it detects it as a malfunctioning USB device (Which it is.) But it cannot find drivers at all, even though I have connected my iPhone to my computer before. So, if I try to restore to official, which I tried once, iTunes cannot detect my device at all. But, my theory is that in some part of the installation, a part of the redd00r base was installed, and my cfw I had before that was left there, and I can be somewhat sure of this because it recovery boot-loops into my custom recovery screen. It would be helpful If you posted support here: http://www.whited00r.com/forum/index.php?topic=6183.0
Because there are posts on this forums everyday and I don't know if it is to help the bricked devices or just as question.

If it says "malfunctioning USB" I advise to try another apple connector.

did a fresh install of this red00r base and then used latest redsn0w to unlock, in resn0w i  selected apple's 4.2.1 IPSW, unticked install cydia and left multitasking unticked and waited.
Iphone 3G now unlocked but the screen keeps flickering...

*EDIT*
It works fine if i use apples 4.1 in resn0w but then the iphone is really really slow

Already done three times. But now, iTunes and my computer is able to detect it. I got hold of another computer. Thank you for reminding me that I needed to create a custom firmware with the iPad baseband. I completely forgot. Again, very much appreciated.

It will only work for some apps.  The systemversion. Plist is altered so it only appears to be 4.3. When it goes to install, slight differences between 4.1 and 4 3 stop the process.

Google Chrome is not gonna run on anything less than a 3GS, not that it means anything… Safari has a better GUI. And more speed.

That is not true. I have read that post everyone is talking about and it only says that Safari has Nitro (or whatever it is) which makes the scrolling more snappy. That does not mean that safari is faster. I use dolphin browser and I really like it for it's speed, but it's scrolling is not as snappy. That is the same as Chrome.
