Hi,

I also use ireb r5 and still get the itunes 1600 error when i try to install the Redd00r Base Firmware for my iPhone 3G.
iReb does say the the PWND DFU mode is enabled. but still 1600.

My current iso is the original iso 4.2.1 from apple and i use the latest itunes 10.

Does anyone know what i am doing wrong.

Help is appreciated.

did you check your host file for any sign of gs.apple.com
if there is one put a # in front of it

if it says access denied open notepad as admin and try again.
the host file is located at C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc  C is your primary harddisk.
again open it with notepad.

If you are on iTunes 10.7, i'm pretty sure there's an issue with that and downgrading, as it's been mentioned by many people on many different forums. Anything under 10.6.3.25 works fine for me.

Hi Thebiocity,

The hostfile is empty, maybe it is the version of itunes like aimout21 states. I will check this later today.
Thank you for your reply!

Hi aimout21,

i will check this later today. I also think that is the problem.
Maybe a stupid question, but where can i download a correct working version prior to 10.6.3.25?

Thank you for your reply

I have also had issues using iReb 5. I suggest you try iReb4 instead and see if that helps. Here is a link to the file https://dl.dropbox.com/u/28585230/iREB-r4.exe  :)

plug the idevice into the usb port that is connected directly to your motherboard. I used to have so many problems with that in the ios 5 beta days. I use ireb r5. windows xp sp3 and windows 7 32 bit

are you using itunes 10.7?
if so remove it and install 10.6

if you are not using itunes 10.7
check your host file for a gs.apple.com line and delete it.

are you in pwned DFU?
use iReb for that

Try restoring on a different PC or mac
 ;)

Edit*
are you using a USB 1.0 or 1.1 port?
if so switch to a 2.0 port
reinstall itunes then plugin your device to a 2.0 port
