4.2.1 Multitasking Fix
« on: September 04, 2012, 02:05:01 AM »
After looking around, I found a way to fix multitasking without using opengles-2.

I hex edited the springboard binary, and then I fake code signed it to stop it from crashing on redsn0w jailbreaks.

This works on my iPhone 3G jailbroken with redsn0w 0.9.14b2. iPod Touch users proceed with caution.

Just unzip the file, replace your springboard binary, and respring. Do not reboot! You won't be able to access your device if it goes into a respring loop. Make sure you have a backup of the original SpringBoard.

Guide for those who want to do it manually or if this file doesn't work. http://www.whited00r.com/forum/index.php?topic=6529.0

I might make a guide later for people who want to do it manually.

Umm... you realise that you have to put it on MediaFire, or get DropBox. DropBox is very useful.
Here's my Referral Link: http://db.tt/i84QO9pQ
We both get free space if you make an account thru that link
Also, I thought HEX Edit never worked on iPhone 3G... I have tried it 2-3 times and all FAILED AND BRICKED ME D: (Not literally brick, but forced me to restore)
If this works, Mind showing Screenshots?
Get screenshots of Your General About (Censor the ID Codes)
Get iFile on Cydia, and show that "opengles-2" is not there
And also a Screenshot of no annoying lines
That would be great :)
Oh yes. Hi.
I see you've noticed this Signature. Well, all I can tell you is that there's nothing to see here.
Yes, there is nothing interesting here. Just keep scrolling and we'll pretend nothing happened.

The reason it caused a respring loop was because iOS doesn't let you launch unsigned apps. I fixed this by fake signing it with ldone on the hackulous repo. If you respring instead of reboot, you can still access your phone through ssh or afc2add if it goes into a respring loop. Just make sure you have a backup of the original SpringBoard.

Didn't worked for my iPhone,  but I think I made a mistake ..
What should I do ?!
In this Thread you explain just changing the "Springboard.app" file and replace it with yours.
Then Reboot. Okay nothing changed on my phone.

This Thread shows a different method:

Whats the correct tutorial ?

SpringBoard.app is a folder, and inside of it is the file SpringBoard. It doesn't have any file extension and that's what you need to replace. This thread was more of a proof of concept so I probably won't write a detailed tutorial in this thread.

Can someone please send the original Springboard file.
I copied to the wrong place and the wrong place was straight into my phone
so I lost the original and the new one f**ked me up :(

EDIT: PHEEWWWW I just rebooted and it worked.. LOL
but one problem, I find that it drains the iPhone battery... REALLY FAST
