I was thinking but the configurator we have is only in terminal could we port a set up (like oftb set up) and use ca40-utils to get g the on boot thing working just once then have litttle bits of code activate in terminal when you press buttons?

all versions of the configurator GUI have been open sourced to the team, since I first made it.  They are free to use it ;)
redd00r uses a branch off of it (to fit iOS4 options a little better).

Is there anyway I can get the gui for my ipod running 3.1.3?

Redd00r version ;) I have updated the one for the whited00r5.2 deb to work about a month ago, and then the one from d00r is designed for 3.x.  the configurator in redd00r was modified from that version ;).
