Stuck Volume Up and Down button sending me to Safe Mode.
« on: December 08, 2012, 10:39:00 PM »
My Volume Button on my iPhone 2G got stuck and I keep rebooting into safe mode because of the new feature. What can I do?
Just here, back after being inactive for about a year... once more.

Maybe disable mobilesaftey? If that is what is causing it.

I'm not 100% sure this will work, and if this doesn't work, it will take down mobilesubstrate along with many whited00r features. Proceed with caution.
In safe mode, open Cydia and go to the manage tab.
Head down to the "M" section and look for something like "mobilesubstratesafemode", "substratesafemode", or just "safemode"
Click it, and remove.
After it finishes hit "Return to Cydia", "Respring", or "Reboot", whichever it shows.
After it does that, reboot (even if it did it already).
If it worked YAY!, if it didn't :(.
I hope this works though :D

disable it ;) either using override if you have that installed, or by manually renaming /Library/MobileSubstrate/DynamicLibraries/MobileSaftey.dylib to /Library/MobileSubstrate/DynamicLibraries/MobileSaftey.disabled then rebooting or respringing.

Okay, that's why I said to proceed with caution. Follow what bcooperizcool said above and report back with results! I'm curious to see the results.

It might also use a daemon to catch it, but I'm not sure about that...  So if disabling MobileSaftey.dylib doesn't work, I will look and see if it uses a daemon.

Bad news, still no daemon :(  did you install a tweak recently? Because it doesn't start in safe mode, it disables mobile substrate completely. So no status bar saying you are in safe mode either.

No, when it turns on, it just has 0 tweaks running. It doesn't say it's in safe mode. Usually I fix this by throwing it across the street... but that didn't work this time.

If you have Activator, check there.. Maybe you set to enter safe mode when clicking volume buttons.  ;)
