I always remove the SIM when flashing a phone.

After flashing turn off phone, wait a few seconds, turn on, and do it again.

Then turn off, make sure SIM contacts are clean, insert, start the phone.

Well i don't know. I'm on Orange, so when i'm on the official 4.2.1 it works just fine, but I don't know if it's locked in Orange or it's fully unlocked.

Installed the custom firmware...BUT:
- no signal, no carrier
- baseband still 05.15.04

currently I have: iPhone 3G 4.2.1 on 5.15.04 / redsn0w 09.15 AND 09.6
I also have the iPad IPSW 3.2.2.
I am letting RS choose the IPSW for me (also have tried doing it manually) both cases dont work. Ultrasn0w doesn't work either.

Reply:

Use older Redsn0w (14b2) to 1. Install iPad bb, 6.15.xx; 2. Downgrade to 5.13.xx; then 3. Install Ultrasn0w via Cydia. Tutorial on iClarified. Download correct IPSW from theiphonewiki. Cheers

Reply from OP:

Thanks a mil :) worked!

if you are using windows PC then I would recommend that you first of all put your iDevice in DFU state using iREB software before jailbreaking....

uuuweeee!!!
Managed to install the 6.15 baseband using redsn0w 0.9.6rc16
Now using the the redsn0w 0.9.14b2 i'm waiting for the downgrade.

I'll come back with update. Going for a smoke ;))

**UPDATE**

Finally after 3 days it worked. I'm on 5.13 baseband.

Now i'll just have to unlock with ultrasn0w. Should i install whited00r first and after that unlock with ultrasn0w?

Great!

Now you can update your first post so people can find the solution to a similar problem quickly and not waste 3 days on the Baseband 05.15.04 problem: change the "Message icon:" to Thumb Up

I suggest the title: [Solved] iPhone 3G Stuck in Baseband 05.15.04

And you could include a short Edit solved with the steps you did to solve the problem.  8)

congratulations!!!! now you can install whited00r and it brings the ultrasn0w already installed, so remember never install a firmware original, because it going to upgrade you baseband again, always install a custom firmware, my recomendation created with sn0wbreeze it preserve you baseband and makes u a jalbreak best regard for u  ;)

Wow, great tutorial!  8)

I added a link to it in my whited00r 6 - Quickly Solve your Problems/Bugs & Get Answers FAST! thread and maybe it should be stickied in the Troubleshooting Forum too.

guys,
i have carrier locked iphone 3g, succesfully unlocked year ago (06.15.00).

Last week I did the most recent jailbreak&unlock Whited00r 6.0 Unlocked. I followed instructions very carefully, official restore via itunes, etc.>>everything works except mobile network >>> BB 05.15.04.

shloud i follow new instructions of user hallogram?

if yes, after step 3, which Whited00r 6.0 shloud i use? shloud i restore officially in itunes as required?

thanks

I am not sure I understand.  :o

What baseband do you have NOW on the iPhone? If Baseband 05.15.04 then go to post 1 in this thread.

f0recast is a great simple free standalone tool to instantly find essential iPhone info including bootloader version and baseband. Works on Mac & Windows!

I just connected my iPhone 3G to my PC with iTunes closed, started the standalone (means no install required) f0recast and it gave me all the essential infos about the iPhone:

Download the free f0recast as well as the free standalone iReb here: http://ih8sn0w.com/

Welcome to the forums :)

Glad you found the tutorial in the first place ;)  From the official whited00r tutorial, it seems you should just install stock 3.1.3 and then whited00r :)

Tutorial - Downgrade iPhone 3G Baseband

The blank baseband happens sometimes it seems, and isn't a bad thing (you can never actually break the device, so don't worry there), it just means you can restore to the firmware you want the baseband from :)
