I used Maps on 4.2.1 and GPS Status 1.2 on 3.1.2 and 3.1.3.

Good news for me: By messing around a little by trying to install openssh and to upgrade Cydia packages my iPhone froze, so I did another jailbreak with blackrain and installed WD6 for the third time and on the spur of the moment I then checked the gps again et voilą: GPS is working... things that make you go hmmm.

The maps app isn't the preferred way to test GPS as it can use cached location data, as well as the working location services framework (3.1.3 as a whole is broken as I said, not just whited00r).
Well that's odd news, but good news I suppose :). I think that is why it is so tricky to track down how to fix GPS on the iPhone 3G, as it isn't related to basebands so much as luck :( (as it was broken on 3.1.3 for you too, not just whited00r).   We do what we can to get people to what should work though, as well as try and find the common connection between all those with working and what they did to get it working.  So far nothing is making sense though :(
