How to uninstall Redd00r without Cydia or restoring?
« on: April 28, 2013, 01:51:37 AM »
Hi, Ive got an Ipod Touch 2G MC...

Jailbroke with greenpois0n.

and I installed redd00r, and that seemed to mess everything up >_< i cant go into barely any apps before it goes to the main screen after a few seconds.

So anyway...

I try to uninstall it via Cydia > Manage > Packages

but it just goes to the main screen when I hit that! D:!

How do I uninstall redd00r without bricking my device.

I installed iFunBox, and redd00r shows up under System Applications > Terminal > Redd00r but i'm afraid just deleting that 1 file wont do the trick and may even brick it.

So can anyone tell me, step by step, how to remove redd00r while remaining jailbroken? :/

Thanks!!!

Sorry you ended up having issues with redd00r (although it isn't surprising, as it is really in a poor state :/ ), I can help you uninstall it though :)

So, first off, do you have access to terminal on the device?

If so, open it up and type in line by line:
su
alpine
dpkg -r com.applepie.redd00r
killall SpringBoard

If the dpkg -r line fails (it will say if it does, it will say "No such package" or something like that), then run after the su and alpine lines:
dpkg -l | grep redd00r (the | symbol is the pipe symbol, not the L or I symbol).  Then use the com.something.redd00r (replace the something with the thing it tells you) in the dpkg -r command :)   Sorry this sounds really confusing, I haven't used redd00r in ages :/

Alright, cool, that got rid of redd00r, but the couple other things w/ redd00r are still there, and it still goes back to the main screen

(the ch.40 thing and activator)

Do you think that those could be causing the issues?

How do i get rid of those then? D:

Thanks <333

Depending on the version of Ch40s-utilities, it might be causing some issues (I have improved it a lot since then).  I doubt it is anything as bad as what you are describing though, unless it is a really old version which had a memory leak of sorts :o
you can remove it using terminal, by doing the same thing, except with
dpkg -r com.bcooperizcool.ch40s-utilities
that should remove it for you :)

What apps are crashing?   All of them, or just Cydia when you go to Manage?

Cydia crashes slightly less when i dont let it update the packages.

Pinger's Text for free freezes when i try to check my messages or try to send a message...

I can test a few more in a bit when it gets done doin what its doing x_X

Is there a  list of app's names (like com.bcooperizcool.ch40s-utilities) anywhere so i dont have to keep buggin ya? XD;:

Thanks so much for helpin me <3

That was the only one that really messed with the system that redd00r installed with it, everything else is harmless :)   Sadly, the reason most things are crashing I'm going to guess is that iOS4 is just so slow :(   (unless they were working perfectly before you installed redd00r).
