Buy a screen and a digitezer on ebay, and look at ifixit for tutorials.

Screen is attached to the digitezer, if you ever try to change only the screen, digitezer will break and crack.

The white screen is because of a broken digitizer anyway, but as revivaldev said, the screen and the digitizer are together, and you cannot replace them separately.

That would make you full of BULLSH** :D
Digitizer and LCD are fastened together only by a few screws and the LCD slides out. They connect to the board in different places. You need only to check the connection on the motherboard for your LCD. NOT THE DIGITIZER. I'm sorry these two tried to fool you. :(
4th Gen devices and up have the LCD and digitizer fused together. NOT 3rd gen. and down....
sources: been fixing these sum bitc*** for a long while now and I've had this issue before.
In closing: -_______________________________________- at you two smh

Ohhhhh right, LCD is different than screen  :-[   I don't know all these terms :(  I just know that the digitizer is the thing that is broken in this case :(

I probably should know, seeing I have done repairs on iPhones myself as well  :-[

I just replace my screen on my iPhone 3GS and I turned it on and the screen was white and the screen would also display a rainbow of colors ... Can I still use the same LCD ? When I turn the screen off the LCD still displays pixels but the light is off I take screen shots of this and I synced it everything is tilted

Perhaps the ribbon cable is not in properly, I would check that, and also make sure it is not damaged either.  That's a pretty big thing for the display.

The ribbon cable is in perfectly the screen seems to have no damage that I can see I guess I will order a new LCD screen

I'll leave that to your judgement ;)  Hardware issues are normally outside of my expertise sadly :(

alright we'll thanks for helping, I think I need to restore the iPhone to fix that problem ... And I just replaced an iPod touch 4G with a brand new LCD and the white screen came up again! I don't think I can fix phone too well I have been doing it for a while just the last two times I ended up with a white screen

Bummer, I would say that does sound like either faulty parts or something with the ribbon cable then :s  (or the motherboard itself is damaged)
