[Solved] Whited00r Installation Error iPod Touch 2G
« on: July 02, 2013, 02:07:10 PM »
I keep getting this error in iTunes and my iPod Touch 2G gets stuck in recovery mode and it always says there was an unknown error. I cant use iRem or Redsnow because my power button is broken so I cant put it in dfu mode and when I try to it just goes back into recovery mode.
Here is what I did so maybe you guys can correct me
1. Downloaded Whited00r and saved to desktop
2. unzipped Whited00r file
3. Downloaded iRem
4. Couldn't put in dfu mode so I downloaded redsnow (tried to make a ipsw file alrdy in dfu mode but it gave same error)
5. Opened iTunes plugged in ipod touch 2g, shift+restore
6. Went into unzipped file selected ipsw file and it extracted just fine
7. Went into recovery and gave a error message

Yea it rebooted and I went into the app market and into the time machine but saw very few apps so I'm just wondering if I'm missing some apps
Other then that it worked thanks for all your help

Welcome to the forums :)

What model of iPod touch do you have?  Look at the back and see if the model number starts with PB or MB, or PC or MC.  If it starts with PB or MB, what errors are you getting, because they give specific errors for a reason ;)  I can't help unless I know the reasons :(

If it is MC or PC, you can't install whited00r yet as it does not support that device right now :(

My Ipod Touch 2g does the same.. I'm using IREB-r6.
Keep getting error 1604. Can't put into DFU mode either... just goes into recovery mode all the time!

Don't want to hijack thread, but would like to get this sorted as i'd like to put ios 6 on me ipod touch 2g for my son - instead of him using my phone all the time!

Cheers

You could try using Redsn0w 0.9.14b2 to enter PWNED DFU mode instead, as I think it uses a different method.  Open it up, and then go to "Jailbreak" and un-select everything except for "PWNED DFU" and then press next and follow the instructions on the screen. After it finishes, you should be able to restore to whited00r :)

You needed your power button for the other tool as well :o

You have to enter DFU mode before you can enter PWNED DFU mode...

I see you had an error when trying to make an .ipsw for entering PWNED DFU mode using redsn0w?  What was the error?  That's the only way to do it with a broken power button, by making a .ipsw for it :/

same 1604 error

You got a 1604 error inside redsn0w?   After you made the .ipsw to enter DFU mode, you had to use iTunes and restore to the .ipsw you just made.  It will put you in DFU mode, which then you need to use iReb or similar to enter PWNED DFU mode, and then restore to whited00r.

If you got a .ipsw out of the .zip, then you did it right. If you got a 16xx error you did do it correctly anyway, because otherwise it would have said the firmware was not recognizable ;)
