Archives / iOS 5.0.1 Animated Bootlogo
« on: January 24, 2012, 06:11:12 AM »
Anyone know how to apply it? I found the animation images in the /System/Library/CoreServices/ directory. These images are also in WD v5.x, which Matt said they were ready for LogoMii

But how do I apply it on iOS 5.0.1? LogoMe?

Archives / iOS 5.0.1 Other.artwork
« on: January 24, 2012, 02:04:32 AM »
Anyone have it? Or have any idea how to open it? I tried opening the shared~iphone.artwork files in /System/Library/Frameworks/UIKit or whatever it was. They won't open with iPhoneShop 3.0

(I'm guessing cause it has to be a iOS 3.x artwork file.)

Or better yet, does anyone know where the "3G" image is kept? The 3G image that goes in the statusbar when you are connected to the 3G network.

« on: January 19, 2012, 04:32:15 AM »
I know this is a bit late... but for those of you who need to access Wikipedia before midnight tonight...

For students needing Wikipedia tonight (before midnight) here is a little trick I just discovered on HOW to access a Wikipedia page without getting redirected to the blackout page.

Please Tweet this, Facebook it or whatever! It might be of some help to a student or two before midnight (given they need it right now).

Tech Talks / iPhone 4S Users, update to 94A06!!!!
« on: January 14, 2012, 01:43:15 AM »
If you own an iPhone 4S, and plan on jailbreaking... you NEED to update to iOS 5.0.1 94A06 while you can! So you can get your SHSH blobs before Apple stops signing them! If you don't... there is a slight (small) possibility a something could go wrong. Although, most likely it wouldn't mean you could or couldn't jailbreak. But you would not be able to downgrade. (Because, rumors say that in iOS 5.1 BETA 3 (and obviously the final release) has already blocked the Corona files).

Tech Talks / How-To Launch Apps with Siri (iPhone 4S)
« on: January 06, 2012, 01:38:20 AM »
If you haven't seen already, there was a article published by many different tech review, iOS blogs, and other such media websites. Its how to launch iOS apps using Siri. Note, that it is not fully voice controlled yet. So all you CAN do, is bring up the contact information, and manually click on the app you want to launch.

There is a developer trick, that is used to launch apps directly from Safari. The trick would go as such:

"fb://" typed into Safari would launch the Facebook app. Things like "fb://notifications" would launch the Facebook app, but bring up the notifications box.

You can do this with many native apps, such as SMS (Messages) or Maps. Just by typing:

"sms://" or "maps://"

Obviously you have to have the exact right short URL to launch the apps. So until people get the strings from the app files, then you can't just launch everything. So something like "phone://" won't work. It has to be an exact string. But to call a specific number with the phone, you could type something like this:

"tel://18005555555" to dial the number 1-800-555-5555

But in order to bring up the contact information with Siri... you first need to do these things:

1. Make a Contact (Name it whatever you want. I have chosen to name mine "App Shortcuts")

2. In the website/URL column, type in something like "youtube://" (To launch the YouTube app) (You can also make a custom label like I have labeling that specific short URL to YouTube.)

3. Ask Siri to pull up your contact information you just made (Mine would be "App Shortcuts")

4. Note: this is where the hands free option disappears. You now have to manually click on the URL shortcut you want, unfortunately you cannot ask Siri to choose one of the URLs. Which is the same, that you cannot bring up someone's contact information and say "Siri, Whited00r" (Given that is the URL, and Whited00r is the custom label). So, in short, you'll just have to manually click on the links.

Here is an image to show you what I mean.

Tech Talks / iPhone 4S Jailbreak?
« on: December 24, 2011, 08:22:52 AM »
I'm assuming I'm correct in the assumption, that there is no jailbreak for the iPhone 4S? I know the Muscle Nerd said a few days ago (or a couple weeks ago) that they have achieved an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.x and the 4S. But it is not yet released to the public, and has a lot more work to be done.

So can anyone confirm this?

Tech Talks / Change iDevice Name
« on: December 15, 2011, 05:23:51 AM »
Anyone know which file to edit to change the name of your iDevice FROM the device? I know if you go into the device plist in the (/System/Library/CoreServices) you can change the name of the device. But only for the spotlight....

Anyone know how to actually change the name of the device? (To change it in the "About" page in Settings>General>About)

Hey, if one of you could upload 2 of these files. (Or a few of you upload these files).

Here is what I need:

1. The found in the /Applications directory (I would prefer the files from someone who has recently restored, etc)

2. The (My notes stopped working after I restored its content using RealBackup)

~Note~ I am on an iPhone 2G running WD v5.0 RC

Weird, one day (a couple weeks ago) my Featured page in the App Store got all screwed up. When I click on an app it gives me nothing but a bunch of URL's and other code type stuff. It doesn't even load the thumbnails properly. It only loads a handful of thumbnails for the apps.

Can someone upload the "" from the "/Applications" directory? I am running an iPhone 2G on WD v5.0 RC (unlocked if that matters? Which I don't think it does).

Here's some images of what it looks like when I click on an app in the "Featured" part of the App Store.

Archives / Blackd00r and Whited00r are strangely similar...
« on: November 02, 2011, 08:41:54 PM »
I'm not talking about the firmware. (Even though whoever makes the Blackd00r firmware steals EVERYTHING from whited00r....)

But look at their websites

Blackd00r just got a new website:

Then go look at the whited00r website:

I mean GEEZ.... there even themed basically the same.

If I didn't know better... I'd say Matt created both whited00r and blackd00r. LOL
