OK.  So, after a few days of fighting our forum I was finally able to fix and install Tapatalk for our forum, and we're now activated and working.  I just tested out the app on my own iPhone.  Thank you Matteo for the FTP access (p.s. one of those URLs were wrong but I was able to figure it out ;) ) Also, phil, you DIDN'T set permissions right  ::)

How To's - Archive / Enable MMS iPhone 2G
« on: April 03, 2011, 12:47:58 AM »
I remembered out of the blue that I had a copy of the manually patched commcenter on my harddrive from an older FW release, I backed it up and I never do normally <!-- s:lol: --><!-- s:lol: -->
Here you go:  <!-- m --><!-- m -->

Make sure to rename it to CommCenter and give ownership and permissions root:wheel
0755 respectively

To replace the CommCenter, navigate to /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/CoreTelephony.framework/Support

and paste in the new CommCenter file.
With iFile on your phone or via SSH set the CommCenter file to
Owner: root
Group: wheel

user: Read/Write/Execute
Group: Read/Execute
World: Read/Execute

Then reboot your phone ONLY after double checking those permissions are correct or your phone will boot loop forever and need to be restored.

EDIT again: Ok, this time I uploaded as a .zip file so that should help fix any download issues.  This should work for everyone have fun <!-- s:) -->:)<!-- s:) -->

Do not try to hit the reset all settings button, this is a pretty surefire way to screw your phone up, no more booting.

How To's - Archive / Enable MMS on 3.1.3
« on: February 26, 2011, 09:04:26 PM »
Below is a step by step guide on how I activated MMS and Video messaging on my 2G while running 3.1.3.

I decided to post this because for the past two weeks i have been scouring the internet for help. After many failed attempts this is what worked for me and maybe it'll answer many questions.

MY biggest problem that i had was that i was able to send pictures on 3.1.2, but could not receive due to a "Size or Resolution Limit", i still cannot get MMS to work on my phone under the 3.1.2fw.

Here is what i used:
Windows 7 Laptop
Iphone 2G Model A1203
Itunes 10
redsn0w 0.9.4

Files Needed:
iPhone1,1_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw------- I'll explain why
redsn0w 0.9.4
IOS boot loaders 39 and 46

First - I forced an upgrade to 3.1.3 through iTunes.
This caused my Jailbreak and Unlock to go away(Expected)

Second - Opened up redsn0w selected the 3.1.2 ipsw firmware.

For some reason the 3.1.3 would not read. I downloaded multiple files from different sites and they all did the same thing. I kept getting the file is not recognized error. Remember you will still have 3.1.3 but for some reason using 3.1.2 will jailbreak it and unlock it too. Don't ask me why, but it just did

Third - Completed the Jailbreak and Unlock through redsn0w (There is plenty of guides on that, so no need to add that information.

Fourth - Open Cydia and do all the updates

Fifth - Add the fallowing repositories to Cydia
xsellize Repo ---- This one should be installed by default, if not just add it

Sixth - Power down phone after the repo's are installed and restart Cydia. I did this because for some reason the repo listing did not update until after the restart.

Seventh - Search and Install packages in this order.
>>>>>Activate MMS (2G) 3.1.3, found in Smart-Mobile repo
>>>>>Activate MMS Video 2g/3g, found in Smart-Mobile repo
>>>>>T-Mobile US Carrier, Found in BigBoss repo (This adds the MMS settings)

Up to this point is where i was stuck because the Camera button would not show and it did not matter how many times i would restart the phone the button would not show up. I had and was able to manually change all the MMS settings under the Network Data, but none of them would do anything.

A this point if the camera button does not show up try and re-install the "Activate MMS (2G) 3.1.3" a couple of times, re-starting the phone after each time and try to send message and see if the camera button shows up. It took me 4 times for it to show up.

Now that i had the button i still could not receive pictures because of that annoying "size or resolution error".

After looking through multiple forums, i assume that the error might be the different phone models, which would explain my some people can activate it easily and others have problems.

What i used to fix the problem was a fix in the XSellize repo called T-Mobile iOS4 MMS Fix and choose the one that says U.S.A only

After this is done walla, it now should work. If MMS settings dont work, uninstall file and install a different one from a different repo since there are multiple ones available. Some of them say ATT/tmobile carrier bundle or Carrier Bundle, but they all do the same thing, but might have different codes, since T-Mobile have 3 different APN's and a couple Proxies

On the pictures below you can see that the phone camera now has a "Camera/Video" switch witch i never saw before

IF You have problems take screen shot and send it to me. To take screen shot hold Home and Power/Sleep and the same time (Only works on 3.1.3)

Please use forum search and stop posting retarded redundant posts, thanks.

Add this repo:

Install Icy.  It's a faster, lighter Cydia replacement, if you want it. I like it.

Tech Talks / Swapmode for the iPhone
« on: February 24, 2011, 12:00:42 AM »
This is a GREAT tool for Whited00r 4.2, especially since there is no Activator.  All you need to do is install the Debian package and you're good to go.  This package is basically safe mode, but your phone will still look completely normal!  The difference is that it has a "game mode" that disables all your mobile substrate for hard-core gaming sessions.  To return to normal mode, just open the app, switch the toggle and exit the app to respring :)

How To's - Archive / [Tutorial] 16xx errors - 3 methods to solve
« on: February 23, 2011, 03:12:18 AM »
If you're reading this, you're probably getting 16xx errors or maybe something similar.  This is because you are trying to install a custom firmware, but your device doesn't have iBoot/iBSS pwned yet.  Let's fix that.

Try iREB first as it is the easiest method (download f0rcast too to get essential info about your device):

If for some reason it doesn't work:

Step 1: Download Redsn0w 0.9.4

Step 2: Download the correct 3.1.2 firmware (stock) for your device.

Step 3: Run Redsn0w, and select your firmware from step 2.  Hit next, and follow the on-step instructions to get into DFU mode.

Step 4: As soon as your iPhone screen turns white, immediately unplug the phone and exit Redsn0w.  Plug your phone back in.

Step 5: Open up iTunes and restore to Whited00r firmware as usual.

Step 6: Done.  Enjoy!

You can also try Sciencetor's method described below.

Woohooo!  Even on this junky pc (although it's a lot better since I installed my nice Sapphire graphics card, put in 1.5 GB of RAM and overclocked the Processor :O, which is an AMD Athlon XP+ I believe)

Everything is nice, just the way I love linux.  Much faster than windows, boot up time is maybe 10 seconds :O

Archives / Installous 4
« on: February 10, 2011, 06:13:42 AM »
I've been using install0us 2.5 for awhile, and it's been great, it is better than Installous 3.  However, the new Installous 4 from Hackulo is a big improvement and works much faster and smoother, so I would recommend installing this newer version.  You can find it on the SiNful repo.
