How To's - Archive / How to delete troublesome cydia packages
« on: March 20, 2011, 05:34:35 PM »
Alot of people have been packages from Cydia and not being able to uninstall them due to Cydia crashing after you reach the package in manage packages. HAVE NO FEAR YOUR SALVATION IS HERE!!!
Ok so heres what you are going to need:
Mobile Terminal OR:
Open ssh from Cydia
win-SCP and internet access
==============================================================
Lets get started:
For Mobile Terminal:
Open Mobile Terminal and type su root
default password is alpine
then enter dpkg -l
This displays a list of installed packages
(If you have alot of packages you may want to do the win-SCP version since you can't scroll...) but you can tap the screen to remove the keyboard
now type dpkg -r then the FULL package name and press return
Respring or reboot and your good!
==============================================================
For win-SCP
SSH into your device via win-SCP and press ctrl+T on your keyboard
type dpkg -l and find your troublesome package :twisted:
Then type dpkg -r then the FULL package name let it finish and then disconnect and respring.

If you got stuck or lost anywhere just list your problems below ;)

It looks like my iPhone will never connect to Wi-Fi again...
I don't have open SSH so theres no manually installing debs for me :(
Shortly after the v4.3 install my iPhone decided it didn't want to detect any more Wi-Fi networks. I've restored to 3.1.3, 3.1.2, rejailbroken with redsn0w, blackra1n, and other versions of whired00r. I've reset multiple things, DFU restored, and rebooted countless times. So it is with a heavy heart that I bid Wi-Fi farewell :cry:

v4.3 is now the newest

Many people who updated to v4.3 have experienced trouble with their Wi-Fi connections, including me :(
When I first connected my DNS and subnet mask were all messed up and I couldn't connect
What I did to fix was disconecting from the network and forgetting the network settings, then a simple reset of he router

Feel free to list other solutions below :P

Not much to say here, i've been a faithful WD user since the v3.x generation, and i've learned from those experiences so I thought i'd use that knowledge to help other WD users.

I use a iPhone 2g and run WD v4.2

My goal is to become a senior member and maybe learn a thing or two about app development and programing.
