Title: PowerControl V2.1 - Boost your battery and performances
Post by: AnimateDread on March 28, 2013, 01:56:56 PM
Hi everybody! Here I come with a second version of this app, what is different will you ask, here:

changelog:

- App remade using Apple`s native language Objective-C, what does it changes? The app is more stable, and respond faster when you touch a button, it is also working by itself, no dependency (you can remove ch40s-utilities)

- New configuration file for CoreGraphics framework, this will greatly improve your graphics performances.

Explanation for the differents options:

Underclock: The best choice for everydays use. Offer a better brightness gestion, release stress on the CPU by using a optimized GPU gestion, and scall down the CPU, resulting in a better battery life without affecting performances.

Overclock: Same as underclock, but with more CPU power.

Normal: The normal power gestion of your device, it is put back at the uninstallation of the app.

To install this app, you must add: http://revivaldev.indigo.dragon-dev.co.uk/

Do not worry if you want to uninstall it, it will replace the original configuration no matters what you did :)

What is being worked on:
- Finish the daemons configurator
- Make a beautiful UI with my new coding skills :3

Use it or just delete all <key>reduce processor speed<key> strings on powermanagment bundle ; )

Thanks :)
this is a bad idea to remove them all, there is some of the profile for sleep mode ;p
Better with this little app, more choice, switch with the tap of a button :)

I removed all rrduce processor strings without problem with battery on my wd 6 iphone 3g and my ios 6 iphone 3gs!i didnt notice any problem and my 3gs is no lag when play heavy games ; )

If you touched the first battery profile, you will have battery drain when locked. The app contain optimized powerprofiles, not just moded reduce prosessor speed, but brightness gestion, gpu gestion, processor gestion, etc :)

Title: Re: PowerControl

cpu, gpu, brightness, ac power use the cpu/gpu to the max, battery/ups scall down brightness more, calm the cpu and let the gpu work more, saving more battery, and i think i can improve it a little more :).

And I may make a GUI configurator for WhiteD00r 6.
I don't think we would include it if you did sadly :/  Especially not if it uses Ch40s-Launcher (yes, I know I made it even, but still :/  ).

Not for include, just a tweak :p

Unless you know how the current one works, it will conflict :/  (they could disable stuff via the setup script and then not re-enable before installing yours and so on.).   There is a GUI configurator laying around somewhere for whited00r 5.2, just a simple thing to get it working on whited00r 6, but I'm not going to waste my time with it ;)

iPhone 3G on whited00r 6.  Don't know about the dependencies though, but I thought it wouldn't have even let him get that far if he didn't have it installed O.o (or else it would have installed it automatically if he had my repo)

So this "PowerControl" Tool will save most of my iPod battery life?  Even when i play some 3D games or using the wifi?

Now i know i have heard "Depending how you use it"
But i wanna know if this tool really works :)
Title: Re: PowerControl
Post by: AnimateDread on May 02, 2013, 01:45:34 PM
Yeah it will save you battery if you use the underclock one, and maybe even increase performances.
Some news: I am remaking the app using the native iOS language objective-c, so it will be faster and have no dependency :D
I will also include a custom coregraphics configuration file to improve graphics performances.

Updated first post and the app, no ch40s-utilities anymore, and it should be really more stable.

Well Ch40s-Utilities in itself is stable, if used correctly ;)  It just times out after a certain amount of time, and also is a little slower on executing code (especially on older devices).

Good job though! :)

Post by: AnimateDread on May 03, 2013, 10:25:14 PM
Ch40s-Utilities is awesome, but using obj-c is saving the really minimal slowtime of the launcher, and it saves dependency :).
Thank you.

What do you actually mean with the "Overclock-mode"? Because i still don't understand what it is..

The term "Over-Clock" means that you're speeding up the System.
Apple has set a "time" for each Animation

And Usually, "Overclock" in that means that you're shortening the animation time so it'll look like it's running faster.

In this specific tweak, the "OverClock" mode pretty much optimises the System to run a bit smoother. But, uses more CPU than the "UnderClock" Mode (I think)

EDIT: Btw... revivaldev. You need to polish up the UI ;)
Maybe have the buttons to take up the page going vertical stacking, rather than horizontal listing. (I can make some buttons for you ;D I'm in love with PhotoShop right now xD)
and the Colour of the text (More Options to Come) Can it not be edited?
I don't use XCode as much anymore (I never used pre-4.0 anyways)
It's just a little advice. It's not necessary, but just a little thing :)
Title: Re: PowerControl V2.0
Post by: AnimateDread on May 10, 2013, 11:47:15 AM
Good description, more documentation is at the first post.
I actually made this without any knowledge of objective-c, I just googled an asked Brian, a little 4 days to have these 3 buttons, and to obtain root acces without the password. I used photo label free to make the background, because I am a real noob in images :p
No xcode here, I used theos on my iPod and wrote a script to fix some error with it, (if you install you will have a perl bin error, this is because the developer included a symlink in the deb -.-) Thank you for the suggestions, I will have a look :)

And you might notice some graphics improvements right after the install, the apps contain a coregraphics tweak :p

By moding the power management configuration.

New repo guys, see first post.

You should get a .tk ;) it's free. Something like "http://revivaldev.tk/"

Then talk to xdragonforce about pointing the DNS of the .tk link to your indigo site.

It makes it easier to type and easier for the users. ;D

That error is because revivaldev probably forgot to sign the script. Everything run on an Apple iOS Device is required to be signed or it's unexecutable.

Also, I don't think its PowerControl that's screwing with your battery, because no one else is experiencing it other than you ;) have you installed anything else, via Cydia?

Check my reply on your other post. I think it's because you didn't downgrade while baseband before installing Whited00r. If I'm right, I, pretty sure some basebands do cause some battery drain.

I don't remember the exact command for force removing a package via Cydia, hopefully revivaldev (the maker of this) will get here and debug it as to why it can't be removed, because none of us knows the install /removal code he uses :(

Thanks for fast reply, the new version installation was successfull.

What I've noticed is: even when running underclock the iPhone is more fast.. strange but okay.

Very good work.

By the way, I have a question:

In GPU CONFIG BELOW, does the optimized profile improve battery life or is for gaming? What's the diference between this profile and the normal one? Could put that description of diference in the next version, on documentation, if possible, it's my sugestion, thanks.

Thank you for the compliments.
The underclocked profile is optimized like the overclock, but with a little less processor juice. The GPU profile improve battery and performances according to my test, but I wanted to give full customization to the user. Yeah, I will make a better documentation page :p

Well, thanks for attention.

My iPhone 2G is more faster now thanks to Power Control, even em underclock it's perfomance increased.

PS: Actually PowerControl is nice, but I would like to try Resurrection which will run OK without PowerControl.

Hi, lastest version layout is different than the video guide on this thread. Is it working for both settings like first select overclock then select optimized profile from GPU config and finally tap finish? or we should do them separately?

Here's a suggestion, it would be good to indicate selected or applied profile in a way so we can tell which one is active.

loved your app, is there any way to make i automatic? like when the ram is in more use, it detects and make an over clock, or when your battery is low or the ram is not in intense use it underclocks? i say that because when the ram is in intense use it means there are more apps running or an app that needs more speed, as we can't change the ram, we change de processors clock.

I'm not sure if it was kept in the final build of whited00r 7.

It works on anything prior to iOS 5 though, it also backup original files so you can try it :)

I think the balance profile was kept in the final release of WD7, someone would have to check the files though to see ;)
