Benefits of 4.2.1-based redd00r vs whited00r
« on: February 18, 2012, 05:53:23 PM »
First of all, I can't express how EXCITED I am for redd00r! Thanks so much to the whited00r team and Matt for the amazing work you're doing.

Secondly, I was wondering what the pros/cons would be of 4.2.1-based based redd00r over 3.1.3-based whitedoor? I understand that the 3.1.3-based d00r would obviously run much faster (and perhaps be more stable as well), while the 4.2.1-based d00r is necessary for the MC iPods, but what are the other ways in which these two would differ?

I personally am waiting for redd00r since I need some apps that are only compatible with 4.0+ (so unfortunately whited00r is not an option for me).

iOS5 can be replicated better on 4.x than 3.1.3 because both are quite similar (framework etc.), therefore more iOS5 features can be made as I'm guessing making them might be slightly easier than before. Don't forget those 4.x features that 3G Whited00r users sacrificed for speed such as native multitasking, native homescreen wallpaper, more options in Settings app, more compatibility with the latest Cydia apps, so you don't feel left out ( :P) option to turn off Mobile Data and much more. And don't forget with redd00r you can use your 2nd generation devices to its full capability.

Porting is easy to 4.x vs 3.x from 5.x firmwares heck none f you even are expecting what's coming to redd00r and why it's taking so long. In still thinking about making you change your screen name....
