Deleted folder, Can't get apps back
« on: March 12, 2011, 10:41:22 PM »
Hey guys,

I'm very new to white door. i tried using folders. I set up a folder i didnt like so i tried to delete it. But when I did all the apps that where in that folder disappeared. When i go into itunes they are there and i can move them around, but i still can't see them on the phone.

Also when I go into sb settings I see 2 icons with no names on them. could be the 2 folders I had made?

Finally I noticed that I can't have more then 1 folder because if i try, the second folder overwrites the first.

I'd try reseting the permissions via folders help app... otherwise you'll have to install iFile or openssh to access your phone's filesystem and manage your folders there...

It's a folder icon with a cog inside it. The actual app is called "Folders Help".

Just run it, press fix and it'll do it's thing.

Good luck!

Try installing a newer version of folders since older versions lack the "Folders Help" app...

Or, as I said before, install iFile, browse to /var/mobile/Library/Preferences and under com.darlo770.folders, check your existing folders... your folders should be there under the name com.springboard.folderXX.app... inside those folders you can edit the file contents.plist and check what apps are inside. When you find the folder which is missing, simply delete the corresponding com.springboard.folderXX.app and respring. Your apps should appear normally in your springboard now.

NOTE: /var/mobile/Library/Preferences is the location of folders in v1.04-2, I don't know if in other versions the path's the same... but if not, just browse a bit ;)

/var/mobile/Library/Preferences and under com.darlo770.folders
all of the com.springboard.folderXX.app. are empty.the plist. doesn't name any folders or any apps and yet im missing one.

you have v1.04/1.04-2 right?

if so, try deleting all the com.springboard.folderXX.app and then respring... this will destroy all your created folders but still....

Yes, delete all the folder's folders (lol) and then respring, and you will want to uninstall folders and update to the newer release so that you don't have these issues :)

you can set up to 99 folders so don't worry ;)

delete all the folders under "springboardfolderstash" and respring... see if that helps :)

I believe he already updated... folder "springboardfolderstash" only exists in v1.1

Other versions use the name com.darlo770.folders ;)

I had to reinstall cydia. But now i get an error that says permission problems folders cant copy to /user/library/preferences/com.darlo770.folders/ Needs 777 permissions. The only thing I see in there is a plist file. I set it to read write and execute but I still get that error.
