Broken motherboard on iPhone 3G
« on: September 03, 2014, 12:28:05 PM »
I opened my iphone 3g and when I did that the motheboard broke just like in this pic http://postimg.org/image/m46yne15r/ the painted part.
If I reconnect all the connectors back and connect the iphone to my laptop the apple logo appears stays for like 20-30 seconds and then it turns off.If I try to put it in recovery mode my laptop doesn't recognize it(itunes doesn't find my iphone)

Also at my dock connector the plastic thing broke from the cord circuit (http://postimg.org/image/6e6nij9l5/).
So I wanna know if the motherboard is still functionable because I don't wanna buy a new dock connector for nothing.Thx

Welcome to the forums :)

What do you mean broke?  As in snapped off, or something like that?  If so, and you are getting more hardware issues than before, I would say you really have broken the motherboard and would need a new one...  It really is hard to tell though, because the dock is broken too so it is hard to judge what broke what and what is still working.

I would say everything on the iPhone is needed for some part of the functionality, and I don't know what that bit does, but I'm sure it does something. It may turn out all cellular capabilities are broken, or you have weaker service/reception, or the device may never even boot up again. There is no way to really judge what happens when something breaks :(

Can you post a pic I am currently replacing the back of my 3GS. And have a lil experience with the 3G and 3GS model and how to replace it, by the looks of it all that is broken is where the motherboard connects to the metal bezel for cellular reception

So is that part of the motherboard important for the iphone to work? The battery contacts are intact...

Really no clue, it could have broken a circuit needed in other places on the phone, even if whatever that specifically connected to was not important...

Thats the part which helps the iPhone to connect to pc and is connected to the dock.... you can replace the dock and your luckey it is not the part of the mother board it is a part of the dock which can be replaced :)
