Configurator won't remove Spotlight
« on: July 19, 2011, 01:24:28 AM »
I have an iPod Touch 1G, and Configurator won't remove Spotlight. I reply 'n' to 'Do you use Spotlight search?' and it does nothing afterwards. Also, it always finds Czech as an installed language. First time I removed all but English, Japanese, Greek, and Spanish (and two unknown ones). Second time I ran it to attempt to remove Spotlight, and it found Czech again. I removed it, along with the two unknown ones (they started with zm_, I think), and it did a full reboot as soon as I said delete to the last unknown language. But Spotlight still wasn't gone. So I ran it one more time, tried to remove Spotlight and Czech, and it did nothing (said there were either no languages found or none were selected). But, the two unknown ones were gone. So... I dunno. I hate Spotlight, I've actually been looking for something to remove it for a while now.

Why do you hate spotlight? I find it insanely great for an App Launcher…

Well, I like to organize everything, and before when I had categoriesSB I had a culmination of eight icons on my home screen and six on my dock, and I knew where everything was and required maybe two taps to reach it, so I had no need for it. I never use it.

And how will you get 1-tap access to Music, Notes, etc ???

Spotlight is basically the only Widget that comes with iOS (other than Stocks, Weather, etc)…

I had a tweak that fused music and videos into one app called iPod, and I kept it on the dock. But I usually just held the home button to play/pause music, cause I had Activator. As for deleting Spotlight.app, I probably won't, but I'll look at nospot.

Except I don't have iFile right now cause I lost all my repos and I can't use my PC right now... Is there a way to open plists and edit them in MobileTermial? And I assume you mean add the string/key combo that would go like...
<key>unified-ipod<\key>
<true\>

Well, I got my PC so I'll find mah repos and go to it. However, I have the infinite respring thing in the bug forums... I think I'll do a restore to 3.1.3, jailbreak, and start over with the repo.

Dood, I added that key/bool value and it crashes into safe mode. The fun part about this is iFile wouldn't download, so I used SSH to get to it, but OpenSSH has the wonderful property of being disabled in safe mode... /sigh I'm gonna download the theme and make sure I get the strings right this time.
