iPod Touch 2G 4.2.1 to iOS 4.4.1 problems
« on: September 10, 2011, 02:01:41 PM »
I completely restored my iPod and booted from a backup. I then wanted to upgrade from 4.2.1 to 4.4.1. I'm getting a 16xx error. What can I do? Is it absolutely necessary to jailbreak or downgrade to 3.1.2? :/

I cannot get my iPod Touch to downgrade. Apple won't verify it >_> any other methods?

All I'm trying to do is to get Whited00r to work correctly D: I really would like to be on the more updated side, with multitasking and all. I hate being left behind by Apple, just because my product is older and slightly slower. :/

It's saying that my iPod is now on version 3.1.3. I thought it was supposed to be 4.4.1! o.O Is the 4.4.1 merely a modded 3.1.3? o.o

Listen, WD 4.4.1 is a modded iOS 3. You need to download the iOS 4 based firmware to get the real thing.

Btw, use redsn0w to put it in pwned dfu mode and then restore ;)

Yep it is ios3. But it is faster and has the same features, it just can't run ios4 apps (lots of apps are still ios3 compatable)

I have SO many apps I'd like to run, but can't … due too iOS 3… I think it's time I upgraded…

Are there any plans to make a 4.xx-based IPSW anytime soon? I can't wait if there are. I see that the Whited00r 5 Beta is iOS 3 based though. Maybe someday! All this hassle, just because Apple wants to drop their old products' support. -_-

Yes we will, but we strongly dislike 4.x.x firmware do to speed. The ios3 one is faster so when the ios4 one comes out it should be used only if you really need 4.x apps.

Oh, okie. Yeah, I did notice a huge slowdown in almost everything for 4.xx. I don't see how Apple's newer devices can pack so much more speed. I'm sure Apple could have found some way to accommodate for the slightly smaller processing speed without taking away features from us older generation iPod touch/iPhone users. AAAAnyway, thank you for all of your help, everyone! :)

You are not a programmer… The iPhone 3GS/4 not only are faster but… the 3GS has 2x the memory of the 2G and 3G, and the 4 has 2x the memory of the 3GS…
