Maybe we had the same problem, I was restoring my iphone and then accidentally closed itunes and I was stuck on the loading bar. I just put it on DFU mode (No Computer) and I was done :P

Don't use a custom firmware - tap restore so you go to a clean firmware..you can go from there

well i don't think that is it because it iTunes gets stuck on preparing iPod for restore. I will try i clean firmware tomorrow.(i am away right now will be back tomorrow.)
