Most likely the iPhone 3G and 2G are listed as unsupported since the remote is not supported on these devices. The headphones themselves probably would work, but not the remotes. I'm not sure though, I'm just inferring.

Oh I wasn't referring to the mic on the remote, but actually the volume buttons on it.
I read that the volume buttons on the headphones that came with the iPhone 4 and the 4S (http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB770G/B/apple-earphones-with-remote-and-mic) do not work on the 3g and 2g, but I might be wrong. Also, the answerer on this apple store question (answerer number four) says so as well.
So if the volume buttons do not work, then the earpods are technically unsupported even though the actual buds or speaker do in fact work.
I still might be wrong though.

EarPods do work with the iPhone 3G, I tried it today :)

They're horrible headphones anyway... Why would I want to use them with any device? :P
